Workshops

“If we do not know how to meaningfully talk about racism, our actions will move in misleading directions.” - Angela Davis

Inclusive Leadership
This workshop will be both interactive and introspective. Participants will challenge themselves to engage leadership through understanding self-first. Attendees will learn how to assess their own identity, values, and biases and understand how that influences perceptions of and interactions with others

Unconscious Bias
Attendees will explore different types of biases, reflect on their own biases, and learn to identify the sources of unconscious bias. In addition, participants will practice strategies to disrupt bias and build a more inclusive workspace. This training can be adapted to be applicable to hiring, interpersonal interactions, admissions, or leadership.

Allyship
This interactive training provides an overview of what it means to be an ally, how to recognize opportunities for allyship, and the relationship between privilege and allyship. Attendees explore application of these concepts in both work and academic environments. Participants will begin developing an action plan to move from bystander to ally.

Anti-Racism
This workshop reviews how systemic racism shows up in the United States and organizational cultures. Participants will learn the relationship between power, privilege, and oppression and the policies and practices that uphold white supremacy. In addition, participants will understand the impact this has on organizational goals and what it means to operate as an anti-racist organization.

Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Participants will gain a better understanding of terminology and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will explore how issues show up in work and academic environments. Participants will walk away with actionable steps to increasing inclusion and belonging in their community.

Customized Workshops
Dr. Stokes will work with your organization to develop workshops that meet the needs of your community. If you are unsure of what topics are needed, she can conduct listening tours to determine knowledge and skills gaps and build a customized training curriculum.
